One More Deck

The painters were here yesterday and today again. They are getting doors stained just the right color.

The appliance installer was here too. There was a problem with the microwave that was fixed and now it's installed. The appliances in the man cave kitchenette are also in place with one exception. There must be something about microwaves because the hole where it's supposed to go is not wide enough. Cabinets will have to be altered and then it can be installed.

5 Star guys are putting decking on the virtual deck. It uses a hidden fastener system so the tops of the material stay clear. The garage door installer was here for a short time adjusting one of the doors. It went up fine, it just didn't want to come back down again.

A Ton

I can't say enough about the painters. They worked Saturday and Sunday to beat the weather that in fact came in on Monday. A lot of wind and rain in this storm but they had the outside paint done before the storm hit. Yesterday and today they worked on staining the doors and finishing up their work.

The flooring guys were at it yesterday and today cleaning up any glue that made it onto the floor. They also buffed it out. It looks very nice.

This is the pile of lights that are awaiting install. Mark was here today and he and Diana went through the whole pile to get things where they belong. There is one light short but it will be ordered in so they will be complete.

Mark did get the woman cave lights in as well as the first fan installed. They are putting carpet in this room tomorrow. We also had 5 Star guys here installing medicine cabinets and general pick up work and cleaning up. Decking was delivered for our 'virtual' deck and rails are due to be installed for all the decks next week. Diana made a trip to Morlan and exchanged the pot filler for another so that can be installed. I picked up what should be our last appliance, that being a microwave for the man cave kitchenette. A ton of things going on and we are getting close.

Outside Paint

Painters were hard at it today. They are dodging weather nicely. Weather was nice today but windy and chilly. Tomorrow is supposed to be really nice but Monday they are talking about a very wet system coming in. We're glad they worked today and they almost have it done. JW was also here and got all the thermostats installed and checked and tested they system. Colors look good so good job Sue. I was skeptical about a couple of selections but it all looks good together.

Push

The push is on. Plumbers were back today getting their part done. We have toilets that are functional if they were to turn on the water. Since we don't want anyone to actually use them yet, the water was left off.

JW is getting the thermostats installed and wired to this board. Hope it all works because I don't think there are repairable parts to this bad boy. Temperature can finally cool off a bit in the basement which is a good thing.

Central vac was installed yesterday but I didn't get a picture. The retractable hoses are also in place.

Painters are cruising along now on the outside. We need to thank whoever invented the airless gun. It appears they will get all the way around the house with the main body color yet today.

Cooperating Weather

The plumbers continued to install fixtures. This picture is of the laundry room sink. Medicine cabinets, toilets, etc are all being placed.

Mark was also here today doing electrical work. He wired in the fireplace in the master bath.

Painters have moved outside and are getting trim painted. The weather is supposed to stay nice and with a little cooperation they say they should be done by Wednesday.

Appliances, Fixtures and Yup

Most appliances were installed today. We still need the front panels for the refrigerator and dishwasher but at least they now occupy the space.

Very importantly the wine cooler was also set in place. Besides the install guy, Mark was here to get things wired in.

Plumbers were getting faucets put in as well as shower valves. The riser and valves were put in for the fire sprinkler system so it's ready to go.

Yup, it's the man cave bathroom. Enough said.

Scattered And Sampled

Plumbing fixtures have been scattered around the house. Install of all the faucets, toilets, etc has started. Floor covering has all been removed but they laid down some new covering on the walk areas. It's nice to see the wood and tile flooring again.

Yesterday the painters put putty in nail holes and did touch up. They also put up samples of paint on the outside of the house. There are a couple of different ways to put trim paint up so they gave us examples so we could actually see it on the house.

One More Step

There's still a messy floor and some scaffolding but all the walls are painted. There's some touch up to do but it looks good. Top picture is of the stairs coming down into the man cave.
Second picture is part of the dining room and the last is the great room. It actually FEELS like we're getting finished up. There's still a lot to do but we're close.

Color

Painters are getting ceilings and walls painted so we finally have interior color. This picture is in the master bedroom. They just happened to remove masking so I got the finished result with wood work painted too. Ceilings are 50% of wall color for any given room. This color is 'divine oat'. Yesterday they got everything primed. We meanwhile were visiting with our low voltage guy and took a stroll through IKEA. Once we figured out their maze, we found chair beds Diana has been looking for. They are now in our pole building.

Paint. A Lot Of Paint.

Trim paint is going on upstairs. The prep time takes much longer than the actual painting. With their airless gun, we watched the painter do the bedroom base boards in just a few minutes. We really like the end result on all the molding. The two pictures above are in the master bedroom.

Paint was delivered today for the walls and ceilings. Buckets and buckets of paint. They are saying they will be totally done with the interior on Friday. I would have questioned that time frame until I actually saw the painter in action.

It's Paint

I know it's just trim but the painting has started and we're pretty excited. All of the woodwork downstairs that needs paint is finished. They say they will finish prep upstairs and prime crown molding and other bare wood, and then put paint on tomorrow upstairs. They are moving right along.

Stain

It appears the staining is done since they went around and covered everything up again. Now we will start getting some paint.

We still have stained doors sitting in several rooms. I'm guessing they'll be there until painting is done.

We Have A Front Door

The front door was installed late yesterday. It's one more sign we are getting closer to completing our project. If you're wondering, it's seeded glass.

Four coats of clear lacquer have been applied to the cedar on the great room ceiling. The only word for it is 'awesome'. We are obviously very pleased at how it has turned out. Masking tape and paper is coming off as they get different things finished like door trim and the beams in the office.

Accents And A Door

When Keith was here to do the siding, he left this prop in place. It's been there so long now we've decided that it is what really is holding up the house. We will have to decide whether to paint it the main house color or the trim color.

Stain is going on the beams in the great room. We wanted to darken them just a shade to accent them against the rest of the cedar. Doors in the basement are in a row waiting to be hung again. JW was here doing something with the heating system. Ed and Dennis also were here working on trim, closets and they hung one of the front doors. The main entrance doors should be in place soon.

Still Staining

Painters were busy today putting stain on the alder posts, beams and door trim. The upper level will be darker than the basement to match cabinets in the kitchen. There is also clear coat that needs to be applied on everything they've stained. Finish carpenters were also here working on the walk in closets.

Easter Plus One

Hooray!!! We have painters working away at the finish. Doors, doorway trim and window trim are getting a natural finish in the basement. It really makes the wood pop and we are liking the look..........a lot. The painter says the wood is thirsty and he put four coats on the doors. Fumes are incredibly strong so I decided it would not be a good idea to test fire the fire place. I hope everyone had a great Easter and if you travelled, I hope you also made it home safe and sound.

Working Down

Viktor has the front flagstone down and grouted. There will be a better picture when all the plastic is removed. He has one more day and then he's off to Europe.

Prep guys are getting things masked off and covered. It appears stain will happen before paint. Everyone is getting things worked down. I can't wait to see the paint.
