Warm

Work is continuing on the bocce ball court. All posts are set and boards are going on the sides. Gravel was put in the bottom for drainage.

This is the southwest corner. It's the corner they are working their way toward. Once they get this area done they will be finished with the project. They still have a ways to go. It was warm again today. We should enjoy these days because winter is coming.

Posts and Bark

Most of the posts were set today for the bocce ball court. A lot of lumber going into the ground.

More bark dust was spread again today. Things are coming along and the irrigation is keeping things watered.

Spreading

This is still a desolate appearing part of the yard. The posts are being reset for the bocce ball court. They are slowly being put into place.

Bark dust is starting to be spread in some of the beds that are completed. It adds a nice touch to the look.

One more irrigation zone was tested (and used) late today. As a section gets planted they get the irrigation going so it can be watered. They keep working their way around the house.

Bark

Bark dust showed up today. It must mean some of the beds are close to being done.

The walkway around the garage is being readied for pavers. Weather was showery today but at least these two kept on working.

The front of our house is looking better with the landscaping. Now we just need the back to be completed ................ oh yes, and both ends.

Lookin' Good

More plants were put in the ground today. They just keep coming and some have been moved from the original plan. That's Susan's artistic eye being put to use. She always asks and we always agree.

Sod is being cut to shape and sprinkler heads are being installed where they are supposed to go. Curves everywhere.

Pavers are starting to be installed. This area goes around the loggia and to the curvy path. There will also be pavers from the man cave to the bocce ball court and from the virtual deck on the north end of the house around to the front of the garage. Lookin' good.

Good Things

Plants continue to be put into the ground, these on the southwest corner. Susan also brought more plants in today with her van.

Posts are being set again for the bocce ball court. Susan said it wasn't square with the house so posts were removed and are being put back in again. Hope it's square this time.

Good things are coming to this corner of the yard. I'll keep you posted.

Edgy

The edges of the sod are being trimmed so they curve where they are supposed to. It'll be nice to walk on it sometime but for now we were told to stay off.

All of the shrubs and plants have now been put in the ground on the north end of the house, at least the ones that have been placed.

I'm surprised Bobby doesn't have his chair out here making sure this is done properly. This is where the horse shoe pits will eventually be. They did some levelling work on this area today.

Talkin'

Some of the sod was put down today. Now we're talkin'. Front areas and south end of the house look much better with some green in place. The raised beds are also getting the rock walls completed. I like the look. More plants being planted and grass are making this a good day on the landscaping front.

Continuing

If this looks like blocks randomly scattered, you're right. They are also paver samples for a walkway out the back. Colors got picked with little input from me.

They are continuing to place and dig in plants. Some of the lawn area has been dressed out and they are saying we will see some of the turf tomorrow. The base was delivered today for the flag pole so that can be concreted in. Can't wait to see grass again.

We Have Plants!

A truck delivered plants and trees today. They were set out where they are going to go and some were even planted. Now we are starting to see the plan start to take life. There are more coming and we don't know for sure when they will be here, but in the next day or two we think. Now it's really starting to get fun.

Driving

Shrubs that were in this area were removed today to make way for new ones. We caught Susan driving the tractor. She is definitely getting into her work.

More rocks were placed around the garden beds. Plants are scheduled to be delivered this week. I also ordered a flag pole today from Elmer's. We are getting there.

Right Color

Work continues everywhere on our landscaping. More rock was built up for the walls around the garden beds. Weather is doing some of the planning for the landscapers. Plants are due to arrive next week and sod may be put down sooner than we anticipated.

Dirt work continues and the tractor is definitely the right color (the main reason for this photo).

Shaping Up

Areas where grass will be are getting shaped up. Of course the beds are too. At least we can see where lawn will be even if it is still dirt.

Rocks are being placed around beds on the south end of the house. These are supposed to be used for gardens as opposed to plants and shrubs. Weather is supposed to be nice into next week. The landscapers are happy about that. We're still in Oregon so that may mean it will be raining tomorrow afternoon.

Something New

Something new started appearing yesterday........sprinkler heads.

Trenches were being filled in and the beds on the north end of the house are looking like beds again. Our curvy path has a purpose besides aesthetics. It will allow someone who is in a wheel chair access to the lower level of the house.

Today, the trenches continue to be filled. The posts are surrounding the bocce ball court. It will be lined with a Trex product. Original design was cedar BUT, we're wanting as much maintenance free material as we can get.

So why is there a gas line at this particular location? You'll just have to wait and see........

Labor

Labor Day meant that Susan and her crew put in a day's labor. New things are going in the trenches. The wire that will go from the control panel to all the valves is being put in place.

This is one of the valve manifolds. With twenty zones, I assume there will be five more of these out and about. We had a good weekend. Among other things we visited Voodoo Doughnuts. If you haven't been there it's good for at least one visit. We had to wait in line of course and our total time from getting into line to making our purchase was one hour and twenty minutes. Not sure I'll go back but it should be experienced at least once.

More Pipe

More pipes continue to be put into the trenches. We should have bought stock in the pipe company. Our water line to the shop was rerouted. A row of holes needed to be dug and of course it was in perfect alignment with that water line so it was hit 6 or 7 times. Rerouting was the only way to take care of it.
