Ramping Up

The ramp is almost ready to be poured. The bottom of the form was changed to better match the curve of the driveway.
This is the barrel ceiling between the master bedroom and the bath room. We really like this so once again, thanks Josh for the great idea. We went to the log home show at the Expo today. No, we are not changing our house design. We purchased a fireplace shelf from a business in Redmond. Since he was an exhibitor at the show, he brought our shelf with him saving us a trip through the Santiam Pass. The show was small but we did run into Mark's wife Glenda and that was a nice surprise. After that we did one of our favorite things............shopping for appliances. I made it a whole ten minutes before I zoned out. It will be nice once those decisions are made.

Barreling Along

I had no idea Mark is bilingual. His warning below the meter base says otherwise however.
We are building a ramp up to the front door instead of steps. The curves add character, at least in my opinion.
The arches for the doorways are being framed up. There are two of these going out of the master bedroom and they are going to barrel the ceiling between them. The ceiling was Josh's idea and we like it a lot.

Moving Along

Masons are doing prep work. The chimney is all prepped so they are now moving on to other areas like the loggia. Stone will arrive in about a week and a half or so.
Framers are still at it doing pick up work. They did make this set of stairs much more stable today.

Fire sprinkler heads are being installed. There are more of them than I anticipated but I assume they are to spec. Electrician was also here today and getting his part well under way. Concrete forms are set for the ramp up to the front porch. Things are moving along.

Frame and Power

Framers took down their scaffolds so the great room ceiling is all framed in. They don't have too much left to do and they will be finished.
This is Mark Pendergrass (Pendy's Electric). He's getting underway and once framers are out of the way he'll start pulling wire so we can have electricity everywhere we need it. From the chill in the air, winter is upon us so it will be nice when we have things a bit more closed up. Also glad once again our converted shop has a heating system.

Framers, Masons And Dowels

Framers are still here but they are making progress on the great room ceiling. They should be finished with their part soon.
A new crew showed up today. The masonry is getting started. They put up scaffolding so they can start with the chimney. It is one place where water can still get in because it's not sealed up yet so that's where they were asked to start.

The front porch is going to be extended. Dowels were put in so that work can get done. They will also pour the ramp up to the front porch as part of this work.

Pipes And Tubing

Copper installers got the last of the bay window done today. Plumbers continue to run lines for water and sewer. Heating crew put a lot of tubing up against the floor. It all will end up at this new valve manifold. I do hope they remember where everything gets hooked up.

More Tubing

Heating guys are fastening the lines up for the in floor heat on the upper floor. A lot of tubing and a lot of drilling.
Framers are getting the great room ceiling framed in, the last one to be done. I convinced a reluctant Eddy to let me take his picture. Eddy has his own personality and we've enjoyed having him working on our house.

It Was The Devil

Framers are still at it. Wade and Phil were back today. Among other things they finished framing in the arched openings for the garage doors.
Another new material is appearing. CPVC, or at least what I believe to be CPVC is being installed for fire sprinklers. Heating crew was also here today and started their work so we can have heat upstairs.

This picture is just for fun and to tweak Josh for the second time in a week. Plumbers did a beautiful job of plumbing in the drains for sinks in the master bath. Only problem is that this is the walk in closet. An easy fix I know to point them in the other direction but I just couldn't resist posting the picture. Sorry Josh, the devil made me do it.

Close?

Copper guys didn't quite get finished today but they are close. Plumbers and framers were on site today too. Scaffolding was built in the great room area so they must be getting close to putting that ceiling up.

Guys Everywhere

We had plumbers, framers, fire sprinkler guys, copper guys and an electrician on site today. A lot of writing on a lot of studs and beams and some tape on the floors to locate various light fixtures, switches and sprinklers. Copper guys finished the bedroom bay window and have moved to the bay window on the garage. Framers re-framed the foyer from a tray ceiling to cathedral. Obviously a lot going on.

Thanks Josh

Before windows were ordered Josh did a walk through with Diana to make sure the windows spec'd were what we wanted. The kitchen window over the sink was spec'd with two casement windows meaning there would be mill work in the middle. Josh was advising that it should just be one picture window so the view wouldn't be cut up. In front of the framed window he furthered his point by saying it would be just like him standing in front of the window every time we looked out. His animated advice convinced us to change the spec on that window. Now that it has been installed we decided to do a test. Turns out he was correct so we are glad it was changed. Thanks Josh..........

Windows On The World

The framers were here today and......we have windows. WooHoo. There are some that haven't been delivered yet but everything that was delivered has been installed. The nesting operators for the casement windows are an important 'must' we had to have.

Spider?

Friday the framers continued to get things finished up on their part. Copper work continues. This part over the bedroom bay window isn't totally finished but it looks like it from this angle. We have something else emerging from the basement. It's either water lines or a very large spider that has decided to claim our new home.

Surrounded By Coppers

Framers are continuing to get ceilings completed. The master bedroom, closets, master bathroom, etc have all been completed. At least as far as the framing goes. We also got some of the copper installed today. Copper will be a nice accent touch to the outside of the house.

Inside Framing And Plumbing

We have a new black material growing up from the basement. Plumbers are getting drain lines put in and they are appearing in the laundry room and the kitchen, as well as the woman cave. Framers are getting ceilings framed in. This is the tray ceiling in the dining room. It changes the feel of the rooms as they make progress.

Eased

We got home too late to get a picture today. Shorter days make picture taking tougher. Roofers got the roof finished, with the exception of the copper which comes from someone else. My frustration has been eased a bit as water is not coming into the house from the rain. We were back at BASCO and Standard TV and Appliance trying to figure out the appliance puzzle. We didn't solve it but I think we are getting closer. Thanks to everyone who checks in and I'll get back to picture posting tomorrow.

Weather Is Coming

Framers continue to finish up the pickup work completing windows and filling in sheeting. Roofers put more roofing on but did not complete the task as promised. Rain is coming in tomorrow and I'm frustrated. We have a meeting in the morning to go over a list of things and to get questions answered.

Saturday

Today we had framers and roofers working. Framers finished their work on the roof area so they are out of the roofers way. They also got entry way and dining room window frames done as well as the arched transoms over those two locations. Roofers made good progress and are working their way to the south. It is much closer to shedding water so we all can breath a little easier now....especially Josh.

Getting The Idea

Now we're getting the idea. Roofing on the screened porch is an indication of how the roof will look when it's all finished. Arches were also completed on the garage doors. Plumbers were working inside so there was a lot of action today. Framers and roofers are supposed to be working Saturday so we're getting closer to 'weather tight'.

Framers Moving

Pickup work for the framers has moved totally inside except for a couple of barge boards. The woman cave has ceilings and walls framed in and the kitchen and dinette have a ceiling. Roofers are still working on the roof and plumbers are getting the rough plumbing in place. Weather has remained nice with temps around 70.

Last Bay

Framers are finishing up their pickup work. This is the roof section of the bay window on the end of he garage. Plumber also is continuing with the rough plumbing and roofers are nailing down shingles.

Multi Crews

Our 'shed' got the start of a roof today. Dormers have sheeting and the shed roof on the front is framed in. Progress continues. My cousin Dale stopped by for a tour of our project and dinner. We also selected our fireplace so that can be checked off the list. Rough plumbing has begun as well.

Shed?

The roof over the back porch was framed in today. This just about completes the roof framing on the back. There is another one of these on the front, the bay window on the garage and sheeting on the dormers over the woman cave and roof framing will be totally done. I'm told these short roofs are called shed roofs. I thought we were building a house, now I find we are building a large shed. Go figure.

New Material

Roof framing and sheeting continue to get closer to completion. New material was delivered today. Roofing is on the roof but still packaged. Forecast is still for good weather next week, which is great for getting a roof on.

Thursday, October 1, 2009

Finally

Framers continue to get sheeting on the roof. Roofing will be going up soon. Western Pacific rep was here today measuring and finalizing doors. Weather is supposed to be good next week, perfect roofing weather. George Morlan Plumbing list has been finalized..........finally.
